Sonic Dash 2: Sonic Boom

Like the first Sonic Dash, Sonic Dash 2: Sonic Boom is an endless runner. Apart from the Sonic Boom-style graphics (complete with weird arm and leg bandages), the main difference is that you can use up to three characters in Team Play mode, swapping between them mid-race to use their abilities – Knuckles can swing from an energy grappling hook, for instance.

As well as switching between lanes to avoid hazards and jumping and rolling to attack enemies, there are bonus sections where you tilt the device to swing and collect rings and orbs – the latter power up an invincible dash move.

You can also unleash character’s special powers, such as Sonic’s Dash Ring Magnet and Amy’s Ring Hammer. Completing challenges earns rewards including sprites that boost your abilities.
It’s fun to play, if not really adding much to the Sonic genre and the IAPs overall aren’t too obtrusive – for instance, you don’t need to recharge your energy to play.

4/5
